I recently adopted a cat together with my girlfriend. The cat is 8 months old and was taken out off a household where she didn't have a good time so to say. I don't know the exact details, but that could be why she is a bit scared/shy. The strange thing however is, that when she is at one of her "safe spots" (under the bed for example) she really enjoys the attention and being petted. So it seems she is getting used to me. But she rarely leaves her spot under the bed and when she roams the apartment she hides away when I approach her gently. Is it just a matter of giving her time? Or is there something I can do?
