Am I overreacting?

I live with my boyfriend and his father. About three and a half years ago we adopted two dogs. One is a husky, resilient with barely any health issues, and one is a bit bull bull dog mix (we think) with tons of issues and he was sent with some food when we got him. We stuck with that food for a while because we didn't know any better.

It was kirkland brand, that's all I can remember.

Anyway, so this dog would cry every time he went number 2 and it was always soft. I entered the pet industry after losing my previous job and after learning many many things, I did some research and found a food to try. I have had both dogs on the same brand for about two years now and it fixed the dogs digestive issues right up. He has had normal poos ever since.

I have told my boyfriends father time and time again that the breed he got would probably have allergies and skin issues, it was really common. For years we have been telling him this. Every time he'd get a bad bout of diarrhea it was because the old man was feeding him table scraps, we also told him this. He was known for giving him steak bones or pieces of steak fat.

My boyfriends father recently got a new girlfriend who he basically rolls over for no matter what. This is a whole other issue and its not needed here but basically her word goes and he'd probably jump into traffic if she suggested it. So anyway, his dog threw up a blade of grass today. There was nothing but spit and some grass in it but he was on the phone with her at the time and apparently she said 'oh he probably has allergies' to which he responded with a very shocked 'oh no really?' like... I have been telling him this whole time???

So he goes out and buys this kirkland brand again without saying anything or asking me about the food I've been buying them :) he says 'what's going on with him is he has allergies!!' like it's not the oldest news and I am livid because of it. I have spent so much money on his dog (been buying food for two 65lb dogs for two years as well as probiotics for those times he feeds him table scraps) and I am so passionate and I care SO much that I am just so angry I could cry. I am going to cry. I can feel it.

I remember when I was doing the original switch I had told him 'he whimpers when he goes to the bathroom and its never solid' to which he said 'oh really I never noticed' like, I am just so mad? It's ridiculous. All this hard work and it's going straight to waste he doesn't know anything about his dog.

Only positive thing I can think of is that this means I will save some on food from now on :) and we are in the process of making plans to finally move out so this probably was going to happen after I left anyway but...

I just care so much. I clean this guys ears and clip his nails. I bathe him. I cuddle with him in my bed. I just love him so much he might as well be mine. Now I have to watch him be in pain and discomfort again just because this old man would never question anything his new girlfriend says and heaven forbid he actually listen to us.

Anyway, vent over :) I'd love to hear what others have to say. Am I overreacting?
