It's a bit of an unusual situation, hahah;;;; so, my older cat, Dino, is a 5 y.o neutered male. He ran away and came home after 2 months gone. Thing is, we didn't think he would come back due to past experiences with other cats and, so, we adopted two kittens who are siblings, Tomy and Lily.
When Dino came back, at first he was really weak and didn't really mind the kittens as long as they stayed away from him. Lily tried to make friends (lol) many times, showing her belly and stuff, but eventually gave up when he swatted twice at her. After 2 or 3 days, we got scared and decided to separate the kittens to a different room and try the whole Jackson Galaxy introducing method.
At the time I'm writing this, almost 3 weeks have passed since he returned and the kittens just turned 3 months old. We exchange smells between them, rotate the rooms they stay in, and they don't react negatively, Dino even smells them under the door. However, the moment he puts his eyes on them through a glass door his tail swells up and he swats at the door when they get too close. There was a day when the male kitten escaped the room and ran through the house, and Dino immediately got up to hunt him. Luckily nothing happened.
His vet recently prescribed a homeopathic medicine to calm him down, but it takes at least a month for it to begin its effects. Dino is still kind of traumatized, I believe, because he doesn't really want to play and hates being left alone in a room; we try to give him lots of attention but we're also a bit afraid to touch him ever since he bit my grandma's leg out of nowhere. My personal opinion is that he's probably jealous of the kittens, but I just don't know what to do and I'm scared my family will give him away... Please help with any insight that you might have!
(Sorry for the long text LOL, and also please forgive any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language hahah)
