We have a orange tabby about 2.5 years old. Last weekend we noticed a change in his behavior. He was acting sad and laying in bed a lot. He seemed like he was breathing heavier than usual and had his mouth slightly opened. My mom said she noticed him drooling. Tuesday I took him to the vet and they said he just has allergies. They sent us home with some feline antihistamine. His behavior is still the same. He is still sad, when he meows there is no sound, he is refusing to eat dry food and will only eat wet food, and he looks skinner. Previously he was fed mainly dry food. He is normally very cautious however recently he has began sleeping in my room which is not normal for him. When our two dogs approach him he is quick to let them know he doesn't like it and will smack them but recently he has stopped doing this too. I went to pet his back and he came at me like he was going to bite me. Another time my mom tried to pet him and he hissed at her. All out of the norm for him. Any thoughts? I've been debating on taking him back in but not sure if I'm over reacting? I'm just worried there's something truly wrong with him and we won't know until it's too late.
