I'm looking for advice/tips/hacks that made it easier to care for a large dog after ACL/CCL surgery

My 4 year old shepherd/pit mix, Bohannon, likes to launch himself into the backyard from the top step of the deck, and he managed to completely tear the CCL in his hind right knee. Surgery is in 3 weeks and he's being kept as calm and pain free as possible for now, but I'm trying to prepare for his very long recovery. I have a huge baby gate I'll be setting up in the living room to keep him from jumping on the couches and going crazy when people come over. And a crate inside that so I know he's safe when I have to leave him alone.

I have an Amazon cart full of stuff that I'm not 100% sure I need for this, and I want to hear from people who have done this before. What works? What doesn't? Knee braces? CBD oil? Toys to keep him entertained? Soft or hard cone? Anything about any aspect of the 4 months following surgery, I appreciate it.
