My brother got a dog thats very nervous and scared. We think she might have been abused. It took her 5 days to warm up to my brother and only a couple days to be okay with my mom. But every time she sees me she starts barking and growling. I stay in my room all the time so I'm not around the dog like they are. I assume its because I'm still a stranger to her cause I don't leave my room often. Is there any way I can get her to warm up to me?
I thought maybe leaving my room for a while each day and sitting in the living room so she could see I'm not a threat. I also thought about giving her treats so she knows I'm friendly. Other than that I dunno what to do. I am not a dog person, I am a cat person. But if I'm gonna be living with a dog for a while I would prefer they not freak out every time they see me.
