I have a cousin who lives with me, she has a daughter and already has trouble taking care of her. She one day got the bright idea to adopt a brand new puppy. She is a big, high maintenance dog that requires a lot of attention. She showed me photos of the dog before adopting it, I advised against it since she cant really take care of her own daughter (the baby is usually with my mom or sister). After telling her it was a bad idea, she proceeds to get angry at me in a rather childish manner. The following week she got the dog, vaccinated her, bought a large bag of food for her, and a cage. I knew it wouldn't last a month. Now, 2 months later, exactly what I thought would happen, happened. They don't feed her, water her, clean up after her, or even walk her, I do all of that every single day. I am a college student learning from home, so I am mostly at my computer working on endless assignments, so I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. My cousin is extremely unreasonable, so she won't even consider listening to me when I tell her to find her a better home. My mom understands what's going on but she is also extremely busy most of the time when she isn't involuntarily taking care of my cousin's baby. I already have a cat who I love very much, not to say that I don't love the puppy, she is very lovable and caring, but I don't have the time or funds to take care of her. I am seriously considering finding a home for him myself, then just telling my cousin that she ran away. I'd like to add that my cousin has anger issues, so she occasionally hits and yells at the dog when she playfully jumps onto her. I feel I should apologize in advance for sharing such a negative post to a this normally positive subreddit, I just don't know what to do.
