I recently helped my very disabled Mom who uses a wheelchair, adopt a wonderful, well-trained husky dog. She loves him a lot, but doesn't have much of a way to interact with him. He was hit by a car and surrendered to the shelter because the owners couldn't pay for his major leg surgery. He had the surgery and was put up for adoption. He is still healing and that keeps him from jumping up on to her bed where she wouldn't mind him being at night. Caregivers and relatives love on him often, but she really can't. She has little use of her hands. She wants him to sleep in her room at night, but he won't of his own volition. We locked him in with her and his bed at night for a week and a half. However, he has always wanted to sleep in his living room spot on the carpet. So, that's what she let him do last night. She thinks he has no attachment to her. I think he likes her. Do you have suggestions as to how or what we could do to get him more attached to her? He loves all of the family and caregivers and probably would welcome anyone into the house.
