What smells do dogs not like?

If your dog sniffs these scents it can damage its nose, throat and eyes.

First of all, we are different from them, so it is not surprising that we have different tastes when deciding which fragrances we find pleasant and which aromas we consider unbearable. For us, the smell of urine and feces are among the scents that most repel us, but for dogs they are smells that provide them with information of great interest to them.

And secondly the sense of smell is the most developed sense of dogs, having between 150 and 300 million olfactory cells, figures that compared with the five million cells that we humans have are exorbitant, so if we feel those strong odors of chemicals and we feel discomfort, imagine them.

These are the most unpleasant smells for dogs:

  • Citrus
  • Alcohol
  • Ceaning products
  • Vinegar
  • Perfumes
  • Bleach
  • Cigars
  • Disinfectant alcohol
  • Bleach or bleach
  • Pepper
  • Naphthalene
  • Chili bell pepper
  • Sulfur
  • Antibacterial hand gel
  • Ammonia
  • Nail polish and nail polish remover

Breeds of dogs with better sense of smell:

  • Basset hound.
  • Beagle.
  • German shepherd.
  • Labrador.
  • Belgian Shepherd Malinois
