Who else has dealt with this?
My family sees me as a no-fun know-it-all just because I know basics about animal care that aren't commonplace. They scoff at me saying things like a goldfish needs a 30+ gallon tank and can't just eat fish flakes twice a day, spanking your dog is counterproductive, birds need fresh fruits and vegetables, most pets should be spayed and neutered, your favorite dog food is probably subpar, etc. I "read too many books" or "listen to what the internet says" too much.
