Blue Iguana health question.

I'm going to preface this by saying that we are contacting a vet tomorrow, but I wanted to see what all the reddit community had to say as well while I'm sitting here worry about my pet until then.

A couple of months ago, we rescued an iguana from a pet shop that had let his tail become bit and was starving to death. We took him to a vet a couple of weeks later when he started getting black spots all over his body. The vet advised us that it was likely not a fungus because of how it looked and that the tail was going to fall off shortly. She said the spots could be because of stress, but gave us some antibiotics just in case of an infection due to the tail.

Most of the black spots have disappeared with its shed, the tail fell off about two weeks ago, and it now has some meat on its bones. We thought things were going pretty well, but this last week, it started losing its spines, which we thought could be from it being more active and rubbing against the branches in its cage. As of today, we noticed that almost all of its spines are gone and it looks as though the scales are missing from his nub under the tip of the tail.

His enclosure is a sterile environment where the humidity is about 65 and temperature is at about 90 in its basking spot. Its diet consists mainly of squash and collard greens right now.

With that being said, any thoughts from the community here?
