Cat keeps scratching and biting fingers, legs etc.

Hi,

Me and my family have finally gotten a kitten (3-4 months old) after my family fell in love with this kitty we got from our neighbors. They don’t really like cats and my dad hates them normally, but this one was like a god-send and it completely changed everything.

However, she keeps biting us and nibbling on our fingers, legs etc. It used to be quite a soft thing but now she does it harder and we (me and my family) have had some arguments because of this. The kitty’s mother died shortly after the kittens were born so they did not get the chance to learn that sometimes she digs her claws too deeply to the point it hurts or she bites too hard.

We have bought her toys and so on and she does play with them, but she still finds hands and feet more interesting. How can we correct such behavior? I did trim her nails, well, so far managed to do one paw 1 hour ago as she was not in the mood for that and wanted to play.

Also, while it may not bother me as much, it definitely bothers my mom and dad as yesterday, she jumped on my mom’s leg and of course the kitty didn’t know it would hurt my mom so bad when she dug her claws through her jeans, my mom literally kicked her which started an entire argument to the point where me and my mom are not speaking as of now. Her reaction was totally inappropriate even if, like she says, it was not intentional but “it hurt her tremendously”. I’m not saying it didn’t but kicking a 3 month old kitty, even instinctually, is obviously not ok. More importantly that she's been sterilised around 10-14 days ago and it's obviously a bit difficult when it comes to females than males. Plus, the kitty doesn’t know it hurts you. She scratched me on multiple occasions and so on and it does not hurt that bad. I mean girl, when you wax your legs, I think it hurts more than when a kitty has dug its claws in your leg. Or maybe I am more pain resistant. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Any tips on how to make our cat stop doing such things? And how do I know whether she hates me or is afraid of me? Cause sometimes I want to pet her and she doesn't want to and runs away. Or sometimes she gets scared by sudden movements. I haven't done anything to her, either on purpose or accidentally, compared to my mom.

P.S. This was also a kind of a rant. I apologize for that.

Thank you all in advance.
