I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured I would post this story on this subreddit. Around 2pm my brother found a black & white cat meowing and not moving much at the front yard. I live in Maryland, so the weather around here around this time is not so good. I couldn't just leave him there so we decided to bring him in. We had to use a plastic box with a white blanket to cushion the bottom of the box and so the cat could get comfortable. When we brought him in the living room, we noticed he stained the blanket with red spots and he honestly didn't smell so good and looked very sickly. We were extremely worried because we also have a cat so our animal lovers' instinct kicked in and I called various numbers to see where we could take him. Unfortunately, all the banfield hospitals were closed and the only other option was to bring him to an animal services facility. We bathed him because he pooped himself and we hoped a bath would do him good. Sadly, after the bath, he was just meowing but not normal meowing. I wish I could have done more at this point but he just looked very very sick :( We also noticed a scrape on his tail which was very red and could have explained the red stains in the blanket. The facility said that he would be put into the system by tomorrow but I just can't help but think they might euthanize him because I've looked online that those are pretty common at overcrowded shelters. We also think he might just be a stray cat from our neighborhood because he used to come and play outside with my cat over the summer and sometimes we would see him outside our house in the middle of the night. Please let me know about any advice on this situation. I really love animals and I just hope he is being treated at the facility.
