I must apologize for mobile format but anyways Context: I live in an off-campus house at University and have 4 roommates, two of which went mostly 50/50 on a dog in April/May. (The other 3 of us communicated saying we were not going to raise a dog, but if they wanted to we are okay with having him and will show endless love. We all live out of state and went home for the summer. The roommate in question had summer classes and virtually had the puppy from adoption (<2 month old.) anyways fast forward, i moved in August and the puppy was very much untrained and obvious that the training didnt go well. even tho He was only around 5/6 months old at this point, it was obvious. During the time i have lived hear (August) the roommate who had him over summer has done nothing but neglect and abuse this dog. His abuse involves squeezing any part of the dog’s skin he grabs a hold of, squeezing hard enough to make the puppy squill loud enough neighbors probably hear. The squeezing is followed by usually 1 but sometimes more overly aggressive open palm hits anywhere except the dogs face. The squeezing and open palm hitting is accompanied by him screaming bloody murder at this thing because he is “messing with him.” The other roommate who owns the dog has to shoulder about 90-95% of the work and on top of that at the beginning, the good roommate agreed to let the other one have it post graduation. This roommate and the others living here have tried reasoning with the abuser and eventually a more direct approach. After months of harassing this roommate about treating the puppy better, the roommate does good for like 1 day a week and the regressing back to his bad habits, On top of all this, he shuts the dog out of his room for all day except for when he sleeps and forces the puppy to sleep in his room with him. Some signs that the puppy is not okay is that he can’t go near this kids room without freaking out. The rest of the house have taken over in training and getting this dog a better life and the puppy seems to exponentially progress until the minute this kid comes home and in which the puppy loses all his training and regresses back to being an untrained puppy, which i dont blame him at all for. The good owner doesn’t want to give up the puppy aswell. So my question is, can anyone help and provide their opinion? Please this puppy can’t live like this
