Keep cat from scratching at door in the morning

Hi there! Hope you're all doing well!

I recently adopted a cat named Gadget. He's an adult indoor cat and when I go to my parents's for holidays he comes with me. At night he sleeps with me in my bedroom where he has food, water and his litter box. And his favourite human (he loves cuddling and spends the night doing that).

But since a week ago approximately he adopted a very annoying habit: at 5 am he starts scratching at my door like crazy, waking me and eventually the other members of my family (who aren't too happy as you can imagine). There's no reason for him to do that, everything he needs is in the room, there's nothing happening in the house around that hour... and when the door gets opened he just. Stands there? He's not a big fan of exploring and tends to stay in my room even when the door is wide open. So when someone caves in and opens the door he's satisfied with that but I don't want my cat to roam the house when I'm not able to keep an eye on him (my parents tend to open the windows at night for example, and we've got dogs that kill cats, hence why it's vital that my cat never gets out).

Can someone tell me what I could try to stop this behavior? Getting woken up at 5 am every night is starting to get tiring real fast T_T
