Keeping kitty in one room?

Hi! I was thinking of adopting a kitten after christmas, but I'm having doubts due to the possibility of mistreating him.

For context, my bedroom is 15m2, has sliding windows leading to a balcony, plenty of shelves and a fitted wardrobe that I'm clearing for him. Of course, I'm getting him all the basic resources he needs plus a cat tree and a hammock to increase surface space. I was planning on keeping his stuff mainly in my room, which would be his "sanctuary", and putting his litter boxes and some more scratching posts around the house.

My concern is my bedroom not being big enough for him and having it affect his mental wellbeing, since it's where he would spend most of his time in. This is because, for now, I can dedicate all of my time to the kitty and keeping an eye on him, but in four months I will be out of the house for up to 8 hours on a regular basis so I need to keep him locked in my bedroom for his safety.

Do you think this space will be enough for an indoor cat to live happily? Should I just give up on the idea? Thanks!
