My cat may have lymphoma, but now I'm not so sure

This is a repost from r/AskVet.

For 3 months, our 9 year old male cat, who was originally 15 lbs, started losing his weight and his appetite. We had him checked out by a vet once with a blood test. Nothing. The blood test came back normal. We had him checked out a month later at a vet hospital. The vet felt around him and noticed what felt like lumps in his gut. She suspected that it was lymphoma. She didn't officially diagnose him because we never got an Xray to confirm it because of how expensive it is. (Still angry about it, but that's besides the point.) At that time, he was 6 lbs. At the rate he was going, she gave him a couple of weeks to live. That was last week.

Within the next day, my family decided to get him a homeopathic supplement named celloquent to help him. We mixed it into his food. He gradually started eating his wet cat food and eventually started eating more. Currently, while we didn't weigh him yet, he feels noticeable more heavier and has more fat than he did before. While this is great, we're still not out of the thick of it. He's not drinking much water as far as I can tell and he still needs a blood test and Xray to help determine what happened.

Something still isn't adding up. This started nearly 4 months ago. If he was developing lymphoma, wouldn't the blood test shown an indication of it? Wouldn't there have been a noticeable change with the white blood cell count? While I suspect that the first vet who administered the blood test must have messed up something, what if it's not? What could be the cause of all of this? Since we adopted him 6 years ago, he always had a sensitive stomach. Could it be a digestion issue?

Can you guys help me understand how lymphoma works and what might be happening to my cat?
