So I’ve known my friend for about 4 years, his first chihuahua is absolutely fine with me and likes me. He ended up getting another chihuahua, a puppy this time. I’ve met the dog when he was a puppy and he liked me then, I’ve had no issues with him at all. Was able to get near him, pet him, do anything with him. Now that he’s older and probably a little over a year old, every time I enter the home the dog goes off. It’s barking over a baby gate as if it wants to get to me. Mind you I’m not showing any type of anxiety about it and I stay pretty calm while ignoring it. I’ve even let him sniff the back of my hand to see if that’ll get him to chill. He’ll stop for two seconds and then start up again. Also I work with 100s of dogs so I know how to act around them. My friend claimed that he probably didn’t like women, but just the other night he had another girl over and he apparently didn’t react to her once so I know it isn’t just a hating women thing. The other day I had came over to his house and the dog was running around the house. The second he saw me, he went for me. He was barking at my heels and I know that he was going to eventually bite my leg because I can feel his nose occasionally push against the back of my leg. I don’t wear any perfume so I know that can’t be it. I’m assuming it may be because I might carry the scent of so many other dogs and he isn’t socialized with dogs other than the one he lived with. I’m at my wits end though. I’m not sure how else to make him like me since I haven’t done anything to him. It’s getting to the point where I don’t think I can go over there till something’s done with it.
