We recently got a puppy. She is 3/4 Bedlington terrier and the other quester dachshund.
She is 6 months old and is the main cause of stress in the house. We originally thought this was just teething, and it could be, but whatever it is, I can't deal with it much longer.
She just chews everything, especially people. She will get really bitey around your feet and sometimes run and leap onto the sofa. It looks like it's just play, but again, I'm not sure.
We then immediately punish this by calmly pitting her in her cage, which is completely dark inside thanks to an old rig over the top of it.
The issue is getting her in the cage. When picking her up, she will get overly "defensive" (if that's the word) and bite your hands when trying to pick her up. Her tail is wagging this entire time, and there's no growling, barking or running away. This is why I believe it's just play.
She also jumped up at people when they come into the room for the first time in a while, and this is amplified when it's someone completely new. There's no barking here aswells, and the tail is always wagging, but it's really annoying. Especially for people who don't like dogs.
