6 month old puppy crying

TLDR: ranting (sort of hoping for help) about my puppy who freaks out in his crate, despite training him for the last 4 months.

My 6 month old puppy still cries in his crate. I know I trained him properly;

  • I introduced it slowly over the span of almost two weeks.

  • I hired people to let him out and we both took time off work to make sure he never spent too much time in it.

  • I make the crate a fun place. I give him tasty things to chew and play with for a crate play-session once a day, and he always gets toys when he has to be in the crate.

  • I feed him one meal a day in the crate.

  • I used to have him take his naps in there, but he rarely naps anymore.

  • I train him in there sometimes (I'll probably be doing it every time from now on).

I've done every technique to desensitize him. For some reason, he still freaks out every time hes in it. He will bark and howl at you while making eye contact, while you're telling him "no." He will bark and howl at 6:45 in the morning before anyone is awake yet. I usually ignore when hes crying, but I dont want him to wake my stepson so I take him out to pee and poo, and he barks and screams when i put him back in. And these sessions last so long. A half hour to an hour. I just can't take it anymore, I tried so hard with him and I don't understand why hes behaving in this manner.

P. S.: His crate is 54" x 36" x 45" (137 cm x 91 cm x 114 cm)
