I am sure this has been a challenge for every dog owner and I wouldn’t be the first to ask what to do when your dog has a biting problem; however, I recently got a new puppy and my Chiweenie has been biting him since the day I got him. My Chiweenie is a younger dog as well (he’s 4 months). It doesn’t seem like playful biting. It seems more like an aggressive, frustrated type of biting. He will bite my new puppy even when my puppy isn’t interacting with him at all. He will either look for him or follow him around the house just so he can bite him. He can’t just leave him alone. I, also, want to mention that my Chiweenie isn’t completely at fault here. My puppy bites as well which is expected, but never hard enough to hurt him nor does he follow him around just so he can bite him. He will mainly bite him when my Chiweenie starts to bite him. There have been a few instances where I have had to raise my voice and lightly hit my Chiweenie on his bottom out of frustration, which I feel very bad about since hitting doesn’t resolve the issue. I am not one to constantly hit or yell at my dogs because of that reason. Yes, I will talk sternly to them when there is something that needs to be addressed, but for the most part, I am not one to hit or yell. To those of you who have experienced this, what are some things that you did to resolve this issue? So far, I only keep them separated when my puppy starts showing signs of pain and discomfort when being bitten. When I feel that they have both calmed down, I will let them interact with each other again. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate your advice! I am open to any suggestions :)
