Cat got splint on his leg, has been getting aggressive/upset ever since being home

My cat broke 3 of 4 bones in his paw last weekend. After a trip to the emergency vet, they assumed nothing was broken. Today, I had an appointment at another vet to check him, and they found 3 of 4 bones in his paw were broken. They put a splint on his left hind leg and gave him a sedative as well.

We've been home for a couple hours now and he's been on our bed (mattress is directly on the floor). Everytime he tries to move or if someone slightly moves on the bed, he will growl. If he tries to roll over (or sometimes out of nowhere) he will actually get aggressive and freak out, though not towards us, just in general.

Is this kind of behavior normal? Is it because the sedative wore off? They gave us more to give to him but told us to start them only tomorrow.

Is he mad because he has to get used to the splint? Im paranoid that it's hurting him/they put it on wrong or something.

Note: up until this vet visit he had been back to his happy energetic (limping) self. He's currently locked in the bathroom because my boyfriend was getting mad at all the growling 🥺
