hi everyone, i moved into a new apartment yesterday and today is my first night at it with my cat. he’s always been pretty anxious and had issues with my roommates cat, so i knew i had to get him his own space.
when we first got to the apartment he did a lot of exploring, but also, a lot of crying, which was expected. by the time midnight rolled around he had found a safe place to hide and quieted down for a few hours.
by 2:30 am he had woken up and come out and was crying again. i’m worried his whines might be loud enough to wake my neighbors. i got him a fancy new cat tower, treats, his food and water are out, he has a new, clean litter box, and i’ve had a feliway diffuser going for 12 hours, but he just won’t stop. if i sit and pet him he’s quiet and purring and happy, but i need to sleep.
it’s a studio apartment and the only separate room is a small bathroom, so i feel bad confining him to that room. anyone else have advice or do i have to just wait it out?
