Cat poo: is blackness always bad?

So the last couple weeks we have been dealing with a young cat who stopped eating and drinking. A few vet visits and a decent loss of weight later, she is now doing both again. The only thing we know so far is she has a low protein count. Everything else looks good. Going to get a GI panel done Monday. Now because of this, we have been feeding her (and her sister) some high protein wet food to try to help until we know more. Today, I noticed some poop that has some blackness. Having GI issues myself, I know it can either be blood or just diet. Here is a picture:

Replace the 1 and 0. I didnt want a picture of poop showing on the sub.

So my question is, could blackness in poop be diet related or is it usually blood?
