I recently had to rehome my best friend, my dog. I am absolutely heart broken. Long story short, it was for the better but man it hurts so bad. I never wanted to be that owner who rehomes their pet for any reason. Ive always said I’d fight for my dog but unfortunately, I didn’t have a choice. And if you knew my story, you’d know I really didn’t have an option. I’ve had him for four years. What kills me the most is making him feel like I abandoned him or didn’t want him. I know he’ll be much happier where he is but im as depressed as can be. I feel like I lost a part of myself. Would he remember me? If he does, how long would he remember? Has anyone else gone through this and how did you cope?
