my kitten might have asthma or allergies, what food and litter is best for reducing any inflammation? what to avoid? please help me make things better

im in washington so anything available in america

i have a 7 month old neutered male sphynx currently in the hospital suffering breathing issues, and the vets are leaning towards asthma that could possibly be caused by allergies. regardless of what it is, i want to change things and avoid this happening in the future.

for litter i was using scented scoopfree crystals, im planning on changing to a normal litter box without a cover. it wasnt too dusty in general, but when pouring it out at first the dust would even be too much for me to handle.

im looking to avoid any litter with toxic chemicals in it so anything non clumping, cause sphynx are apparently notorious for swallowing things they shouldnt. other than that, whatever non irritating litter is out there that isnt terrible...please let me know!!! i dont care how good it is at covering up smell, his health is more important to me than that.

as for food i was feeding instinct chicken dry food, but switched to crave chicken dry food for a bit after i ran out. i think that mightve been the start of it all since he only started to act weird after the change.

i want to transition him to more natural food and get him to start eating more wet food which he hates, although not completely get rid of feeding dry since its convenient for me. ive considered feeding a raw diet but its not viable. its important i have something that is easy on sensitive stomachs. so far im looking at tiki cat after dark chicken wet food and solid gold sensitive stomach quail dry food, are these any good?

if anyone has any suggestions at all i would really appreciate it, i dont want my kitty to suffer anymore than he already has and i feel terrible that i wasnt giving him the best that i could, its hard to find out what is and isnt so good for my cat since a lot of info online seems to be biased, out of date, or non applicable (the faq seemed more geared towards dogs).
