Hello reddit! Wondering if you can help us out with this one. Our 7 month old F1 black labradoodle just got his first haircut, which is why I think this is more apparent now than before. We've just noticed several (upwards of 10, definitely more) solid gray hairs on his back and side. They are true gray hairs, look and feel like the same ones an aging human would have. A few weeks after we got him at age 3 months we noticed several little speckles of gray around his eyes and thought nothing of it. These however are raising a bit more concern as they are scattered around his body.
He is otherwise very heathly, and very happy. I would say he isn't stressed because he doesnt display any anxious behaviors, but now I'm questioning this (internalized anxiety...?). Hes been to the groomer a few times before for baths/nail trimmings. He LOVES the groomer, like pulls in the direction of the groomer whenever we walk near it. Same for the vet. We had him neutered a few weeks ago (not sure this is relevant but just in case). Up to date on all his shots etc etc. Plenty of exercise, eats well, very loving, social, and well-behaved.
This is not an aesthetic concern. This guy could be orange and pink for all I care I'm head over heels in love with him. But I'm just wondering if there are any health issues that this might be a symptom of? Has anyone else had a similar experience? Before you say 'ask your vet' yes I know and I'm aware and I will but they are closed at the moment. What are your thoughts, reddit? Let me know, thanks in advance!
