Advice on aggressive cat

Apologies for formatting, I'm on mobile.

I adopted my cat Atticus 5 months ago. His previous owners apparently had him for 2 years and said they were rehoming him because he needed to not be around other animals.

As soon as I brought him home, I realized some strange behavioral traits. I googled some of them and realized he is definitely part savannah cat. He is physically massive, very energetic, and curious. That all combined wouldn't be bad except for the fact that hes aggressive. He's attacked me multiple times, his claws are always out, hes shredded my furniture, and hes overall very violent. However, I can tell he wants to be sweet-- he sleeps on my bed every night and climbs on my chest occasionally.

I have been toying with the idea of rehoming him because I didn't intend to adopt a savannah and I live in a very small apartment. I think he needs more space and stimulation.

The current issue-- I cam home for Thanksgiving this week and brought him with me. My mom has a very small, 17 year old cat. I was worried how it would all go down, but it's been worse than expected. I kept my moms cat in her room while he smelled around and he went ballistic. He has been body slamming into doors trying to get to her, and I really think he could kill her. In the process, he has attacked both me and my mom.

I was able to keep him on my moms screened in sun room which is separated from the house by a sliding door. He has been literally foaming at the mouth looking in to the house for the past 8 hours. I went outside to spend some time with him and his heart is racing, he is growling and hissing, and he wants to attack me.

I dont know what to do. Im supposed to be here for a week but this situation is so bad. I dont know if I should just take him to a shelter here or what. I mentioned maybe having to go back home and my mom is angry that im "picking a cat over family". I just dont know what to do.
