So my cat, Pippin, has come to figure out that she can wake me up by doing various behaviors in the morning, including;
-
Scratching my box spring
-
Meowing
-
Pulling books off shelves, etc.
I know about the wisdom saying "Don't give into your pets demands." It used to be I did that, however even after stopping, the behavior is still just as bad. I find that every adjustment I make, she finds a new way around it.
Case in point, she used to yank my books out of my boon shelf every morning. So I took them off. Now she has graduated to assaulting my box spring. When I spray that with feliway, she attacks another bookcase. If I lock her out of my bedroom, she scratches the carpet LOUDLY (like, really gets into the weave. My poor deposit.)
She only does this behaviors in the morning, about 2-2.5 hours before i wake up. She is on an automatic feeder, which she knows, but still harasses me.
I'm going to readjust the time so she gets fed around then, the afternoon, and late evening. But I'm wondering if anyone has any other advice? A box spring is a lot to cover in two-sided tape... and the behaviorn doesn't seem like a scratching impulse related issue (lord knows she has a scratch pad right next to the bed she completely ignores, as well as MANY others around the house.)
