My dog licked his tail open, red and bloody. We took him in and the vet said it's likely due to allergy. They gave us a cream to put on the tail and a cytopoint injection. they bandaged his tail by taping at the top and allowing a sleeve to fall the length of his tail.
Even with his (largest available size) cone on he can easily lick the full length of his tail. He is very bendy. He's licking the cotton sleeve and that sleeve is now very bloody and messy. I reapplied the cream and rapped over the cotton sleeve so that he couldn't directly lick the cotton.
I'm hoping for help preventing him from licking his tail so that it can heal.
