Found a kitten at work yesterday and took her home

I don't really know what to do and any advice would be helpful. I work at a gas station and yesterday while I was working a kitten was randomly abandoned at the gas station. We have several strays that live in the area but I could tell this kitten had belonged to someone and was cared for, she was so clean and friendly she ran right up to my boss and tried to follow him inside the store. We bought some dry food and put some outside for her as we do sometimes for the strays, and one if the strays came over and instantly wanted to fight the kitten, which made me worry about leaving her out there with the other ones since she clearly didn't belong with them and wouldn't be able to survive. She is the sweetest kitten, instantly let me pick her up and cuddled on my lap the entire drive home without making a sound. Here's the problem. My bf and I live in an apartment, we are allowed to have pets if we pay a pet fee, which we are fine with. We plan on paying Monday after we bring the kitten to the vet to make sure she's healthy and not microchipped. The only thing is that kitten won't shut up. Whenever she's not being held or pet she's constantly meowing, and I'm worried by neighbors are going to start complaining about the noise, especially since a lot of them have dogs and the meowing makes their dogs all start barking. We really don't want to get another cat, which I've read is the best thing to do, I don't know if we were even ready for this one. I'm just not sure if we can handle the stress of this right now, or how long we will have to deal with the constant meowing. If I bring her to an animal shelter I will never forgive myself for abandoning this kitten just as it's previous owners did, I just wish she would be quiet so we can sleep and eat in peace. Please Reddit, tell me what to do!
