So here is my situation. I moved into an apartment sixth months ago and told our realtor that at some point, I would likely move in my cat from home. He said that was totally fine, they are allowed in the lease, though I would have to pay a pet deposit when that time came.
I just moved in my cat and on my renters portal online requested a lease modification to add the pet deposit. However, a renters warehouse person got back to me and informed me that the landlord has not agreed to any pets and that my request was denied.
The landlord lives out of state so there are no check ins but the renters warehouse people are here in Chicago...what should I do? My lease does not say pets are banned though it does say I can’t have a pet if my landlord doesn’t approve...but both the lease and my conversation with the realtor seem to ensure that I should be able to have a cat.
Will the renters warehouse people come knocking? Will I get evicted? I just got my baby back in my life and I can’t imagine life without her. Please help :(
