I have a male and female pair of albino ring neck doves. I ordered them online and picked them up from the post office. The day after I got them and they had somewhat settled in to their cage, what I assume to be the male started showing aggression towards the female. He chases her around the cage and plucks at the back of her neck even when she goes up to the perch to escape. Anytime she goes for food or water this happens. I have tried putting two water and two food receptacles in the cage but it did not work. The weirdest thing is, that all the aggression stops when I turn off the lights for bed. Is this aggression just the male trying to get the female to nest? Do I need to separate them?
