I want a cat but have no idea where to start

Hi everyone!

For the past few months, I've been growing more and more interested in getting a cat. I'll spare you all the details but I really do just love them.. and I'm most interested in ragdolls, Siberians or Maine Coons! (Although I'm open to other floofs).

However, to convince my parents, I'll need to prepare a way to show them my plan, budgeting and ideas..

Honestly, I have no clue where to start. So... if you can help me with any of these points I'd really appreciate it.

1. Where do I begin to look? What ressources are the best to educate myself? How do I know breeders are trustworthy and reputable? How do I find a cat that suits my precise taste with adoption (age, breed etc.)?

2. I already have a pet cockatiel... Can they live together? What do I do then?
