Wanting to adopt a shelter dog, but my roomate's dog is really defensive toward other dogs. She's a 16lb mutt and loves people. She's totally sweet except when there's another dog. She doesn't bite, just barks and get's really upset when the other dog get's close. We tried introducing her to a friends dog and she didn't like being close to him. when left off the leash they were ok for the most part with a few small incidents.
I feel like over the course of a few days or a week she'll learn to live with a new dog or ignore it, but my roommate isn't sure what will happen.
They'd be separated during the work day so I'm not concerned there.
Out of respect for him and his dog I don't want to make a decision that affects all of us in a bad way.
