Looking for Literature on Dogs Becoming Rabid/Wild over time.

Short version of a long story: My 4 year old Siberian Husky had to be put down (at the behest of the vet and an animal behavioralist), who slowly over time became more violent for reasons that seemed obtuse, including:

  • Saying certain words.
  • Touching your elbow, shin.
  • Scratching yourself anywhere.
  • Putting your hand low towards the ground.
  • Another person getting near me or my Mom, etc.

The "violent" events lead me (and others) to getting stitches due to bites, and the last straw was him biting my face when I was sleeping.

Before anyone asks, I'm 31 and my last dog before this dog lived to 18 years old and was the happiest dog ever. My previous dog was never struck or put in a kennel for bad behavior, walked daily for 60 minutes on a bike (or trip to dog park [where it had to stop because violence towards other dogs]), fed twice a day, and played with regularly.

These events came to a close 4 years ago and not a day goes by where I can't stop thinking about it (PTSD?). I need to learn more about what might have happened to my buddy turned wild animal that became triggered by inane things. I think understanding what have caused this might help bring me closure to the whole thing.
