I lived with my roommates cat over the summer, he was a 21 year old sweetheart. I now recently moved into a new 1 bedroom apartment and I miss living with a cat and would love to get one myself.
The issue is I just furnished my place with a nice light grey fabric couch, faux leather stools and chairs, and I have a fair bit of hanging and larger plants around. (They are pothos, toxic to cats but they are very high up being ~5' off the ground)
I've talked with a few people and they suggested getting a cat that was 7-9 years old and having a few cat scratching posts around the apartment.
I would really love to not ruin my furniture and I do realize that my place is not very cat friendly. I would absolutely love the company though. What are your thoughts? should I just hold off?
