Should I get a cat sitter?

Hi all,

My boyfriend and I will be out of town the afternoon of Christmas Eve through Christmas evening and was wondering if I should get a cat sitter...

My cat is 15 years old but super active - his vet says he definitely doesn't seem like an older cat. I free feed him dry food but give him half a can of wet food in the evenings. He's the only cat in our household, and he's used to my boyfriend and I being gone up to ten hours a day, twice a week, while we're at work (my boyfriend works from home the other three days).

I'm not sure if he'd be alright being on his own for about a day? I was thinking of making sure he has a full bowl of dry food to last him but unfortunately his water dish wouldn't be changed until we returned, nor would his litter box be scooped.

What would be the best course of action here?

Thanks in advance!!
