I don't know who is doing this, or why, but my sister's cats (They live a couple blocks away from me) went missing and they found one of them in an alley dead, as if it were stomped or something and now my daughter (4)'s cat we've had for 2 years just came home from with a piece of his flesh/skin missing. It's legit a perfect square cut out of his skin/fur.
We're definitely keeping him in from now on, to the best of our abilities (He tries to run out constantly), but I want to know if there's anything we can do to find out who's doing this, should we contact authorities? Neighborhood watch? Anything like that? Get a pet camera? I don't know, I'm going to be very upset if my baby's cat is hurt more or killed.
What can I do in this situation? I feel helpless and horrible for keeping the cat in constantly (he's a Tom cat), but I'm definitely not going to let him out to get hurt again.
tl;dr- Someone is hurting/killing animals in my neighborhood, skinned a chunk of my cat's skin it seems and we don't know who or how to stop it. Keeping the cat in from now on, but he's always been an outside cat, as he's a tom and loves being out doors. (in for the night and whenever he wants).
