I can't get over the fact that my cat attacked me.

I was working out and all of a sudden he attacked my arm and wouldn't let go. This is the second time he does. He is already very aggressive by nature he wouldn't let me pet him and would bite when I do. He rarely lets me touch him. My husband had enough of this cat who kept scratching us and hurt us. He was behaving well for a while, and we started preparing his paper to take him with us when we relocate to another country this summer. Now my husband changed his mind since he saw me screaming and terrified from the attack. The scars were pretty deep, and it was out of the blue.
I used to always defend the cat and come up with explanations for his behavior but this time I can't get over this. I love him a lot, but I can't trust him and I don't want to play with him or be around him. When he attacked me I locked him for a few hours in a separate room and when I opened the door he was playful as usual.
How can I prevent this from happening again? What if he does something worse? The scars are still hurting me real bad after three days.

What should I do?
