My husband and I both live together in our home with our dog. He adopted her 6 months before I met him and we’ve been together for 2 years now. When we decided to get a place together(we were living separately and saving up for the house we wanted) we both agreed to get another pet. So we finally moved into our house and shortly after I became pregnant and started working from home so that I can hold the fort down here while he’s at work. He comes home to a clean house and cooked meals every night and I LOVE doing these things for him because I hate seeing him stressed out. A few days ago I mentioned getting another pet(preferably a kitten or adult cat since they are easier than dogs). Our dog now is almost 3 and I’m still training her to not chew up my shoes and teach her good dog manners. My husband doesn’t care much when I work with our dog since it “doesn’t effect him” 🙄 when I mentioned getting another pet he quickly put an end to the conversation by saying no. He said he didn’t like cats and he doesn’t want another animal that “chews up his stuff” like our dog does. I have given him solutions to this problem many times but he won’t follow through with it and therefore I have to deal with him saying “no” to another pet when I’m the one taking care of them mostly. I tell him he’s being unreasonable and unfair but he won’t listen to me and tells me I’m being a “brat” about it when I bring it up in conversation. What are your thoughts on this?
EDIT: he says he wants a certain breed of cat but I’m not the type of person to spend $$$ on a cat when there are ones in need of homes at our local shelter. He says he doesn’t want an “old cat” or an “annoying cat”
