Hello all,
My wife and I have recently adopted kittens from a charity shelter. They are absolutely adorable and I love them.
Only one issue; one of them (the girl) is very playful great appetite, very loving and uses the litter tray with no issues. However, the other one (the boy) doesnt seem to want to go in the litter tray, even to step in it let alone do his business.
We previously had their litter trays in our en suite bathroom and he kept going into the washing basin when we were out and doing his business in that. We have been advised by the charity to move the litter trays to be apart from each other but this didn't work. They also said to keep the litter trays out of the bathroom and keep the kittens out of the bathrooms completely so that he can get used to using litter trays.
This is my worry; now that I have denied him access to the bathroom, will he just settle for using the litter tray (now next to bathroom door in bedroom) or will he be so uncomfortable that he'll just do his business on our carpet or bed?
We are using wood pellet litter, again under advice of the charity, due to the hazard of eating the litter. They can get rid of wood pellets if they eat that. We'll use clay litter when they're 6 months old (currently 2 months old).
Additionally we are using Feliway and they have seemed much more relaxed and playful since doing so.
Any advice would be appreciated.
