On r/Queens there was a thread about someone who has been poisoning cats. That made me think... Is catch-and-release statistically better at culling the feral cat population than killing them would be?
It's apparently illegal to poison stray cats. I wasn't aware of that. I assumed all pest animals could be killed, or at minimum that strays could be poisoned because they don't belong to anyone. I am guessing the rules are to stop people from accidentally poisoning outside cats.
I know some people shoot cats that go on their property. Whether that's legal or not, I don't know.
I don't know what is the best way for people to deal with stray and feral cats. The main issue in killing them seems to be moral. I want to stop feral cats from existing, but just outright killing them puts a bad taste in my mouth. Then again, I'm a bleeding heart that squirms at killing roaches too.
